Butley Priory is a Grade I listed former gatehouse, offered as an exclusive-use, fairy-tale countryside wedding venue with accommodation for guests in four newly refurbished bedrooms. An enchanting setting for creating your own exclusive ‘wedding village’ with the addition of Butley Abbey Farmhouse, Butley Priory Cottage and Paddy’s Cottage, offering a total of 20 bedrooms across four charming and unique properties, surrounded by beautiful Suffolk countryside.

With the flexibility to create your own exceptional wedding over two nights or more, there is also a dedicated site to add a marquee, tipi or sailcloth tent to host dinner & dancing for up to 200 guests.

The Priory offers something rare, there is no other venue quite like it. Steeped in history with its unique architecture, it is set in private grounds surrounded by ancient oaks and ponds where the monks once fished. In Spring, the woodland is carpeted in bluebells and daffodils.

Each wedding is bespoke; our experienced, knowledgeable and friendly team will be here to help you, or assist your wedding planner, every step of the way. Weddings vary from the intimate to the extravagant, the classic to the more unusual. We are happy to be adaptable to help deliver your vision of a truly personal wedding.

Butley Abbey Farmhouse

Butley Abbey Farmhouse overlooks its large garden, tennis court, thatched summerhouse and croquet lawn, with meadows and woods beyond. With twelve charming bedrooms (sleeping 24), it is the ideal setting for gathering friends and family together for special occasions and holidays on the Suffolk coast.

Butley Priory Cottage

Butley Priory Cottage is an 18th century flint cottage beside the Priory. Once used as a stable for the Priory and later as a summerhouse, it is available for midweek and weekend stays. It has two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, open plan kitchen/dining room and a double sofa bed in the sitting room.

Paddy’s Cottage

Paddy’s Cottage adjoins the Farmhouse and offers our only ground floor bedroom, complete with spacious and contemporary wet room. It has two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, open plan kitchen/dining room and a double sofa bed in the sitting room. A pretty courtyard garden for sunsets & daiquiris.
